Abolishing Corporate Rule: March 21 at 7 pm

Abolishing Corporate Rule: An Imperative to Thwarting Authoritarianism and Fascism. Jennie Spanos of Move to Amend will address the issues. A virtual meeting of WILPF San Jose.

The rise of extreme right-wing populism is a fundamental threat to the limited amount of "democracy" individuals, especially those from historically oppressed community have eve possessed.

The systemic political crises we face not only include blind obedience to unaccountable authority; suppressions of people's voices and power; and racism, sexism and homophobia (i.e. characteristics of authoritarianism), but the increasing rise of he integration of state and corporate power (i.e. fascism). As Benito Mussolini stated: "The definition of fascism is the marriage of corporation and state."

This participatory discussion will deep dive into the history and current state of corporate rule (specifically how corporate entities have hi-jacked amendments of the U. S. Constitution to attain constitutional rights)--which have allowed these artificial legal fictions, when convenient, to capture state power to serve their interests while at other time to usurp government decisions.

The discussion will also engage participants in the growing national effort to end corporate rule by enacting the We the People Amendment. We welcome you join this effort to put power back in the hands of the people and end the dominance of big money in politics.

Jennie Spanos is a Co-Director of Move to Amend. She works every day to help build a real democracy rooted in justice, community power and freedom from corporate rule.

Democracy isn't something you inherit. It's something you build. Together.
